THE fall-out from RS Basingstoke's resignation last weekend left Farnborough North End eight points clear in the revised Division 3 table and they capitalised with another victory on Saturday.
A 34th-minute goal by Darren Sked was enough to give the Farnborough high-flyers a narrow 1-0 verdict at Verwood but North End secretary John Marchment was far from impressed with the performance.
"It was only a tight game because we couldn't finish in front of goal - it was dire!" sighed Marchment, who also saw Chris Maunder and Steve Lloyd hit the Verwood woodwork.
Colden Common, who conceded second spot to Paulsgrove after the shake-up, were 2-0 victors away at Tadley after Jim Hart put a mystery penalty award over the home crossbar after 15 minutes.
Simon Lemon showed his teammate how it was done just five minutes later following a push on Lee Kelly, and Richard Lang found Dean Higgins, who netted with a far-post header to double Common's tally in the final minute.
Ordnance Survey boss Tim Balch felt aggrieved that his side didn't come away with a point at Paulsgrove, who snatched a suspiciously-offside-looking 88th-minute winner.
Jason House put Paulsgrove in front midway through the first half but the Mapmen equalised on 73 minutes when Lewis Fry netted from the spot after Wayne Jones had been fouled.
Paulsgrove bagged a late winner when Jody Howard went on a surging run and his effort ran kindly for House to net a late winner.
Overton added the scalp of fourth-placed Fleetlands to the notable top two pairing of Farnborough and Paulsgrove when a 65th-minute blow by Leon Dalton secured them a 1-0 scoreline over the Gosport outfit.
Otterbourne climbed up into fourth after hitting Southampton neighbours QK Southampton for six.
Jamie Nash scored a hat-trick with James Banks, Jim Bedford and Rob Fox completing the Otters' sextet.
Richard Natt nabbed both goals as Hamble Club pipped Yateley Green 2-1 while Laverstock & Ford also beat Clanfield by the same margin.
Ollie Todd gave the visitors a 50th-minute lead before the Wiltshire stormed back through Toby Giles (55) and Stevie Hoare (80).
Strikes from two-goal 'Rocky' Moore and Lee Oliver saw Hayling floor Fleet Spurs 3-0, whilst Mark Green scored one goal and made the other as Micheldever triumphed 2-0 over Ludgershall, who missed a penalty when Mark Radmore saw his effort saved by the home keeper.
