HARRY REDKNAPP led Saints to a memorable 2-1 victory over former club and fierce south-coast rivals Pompey at St Mary's this afternoon.

Two debatable penalties and a sending off provided moments of great controversy, but it is Saints who find themselves in the hat for the fifth round of the FA Cup.

A 1-1 draw and a return to Fratton Park for the replay had looked inevitable for boss Redknapp, until Peter Crouch converted a 93rd-minute penalty winner against his former club.

It capped an electrifying second half.

Matt Oakley had put Saints ahead in the 54th-minute when he fired an excellent drive past Pompey goalkeeper Kosta Chalkias.

But the visitors were level within two minutes after Diomansy Kamara tumbled easily under the challenge of Claus Lundekvam to win a penalty that was converted by Yakubu.

Kamara was booked following a melee after the penalty decision and referee Steve Bennett gave the Senegalese star his marching orders 16 minutes later for a deliberate handball.

The injury-time penalty award was also hotly disputed after David Prutton crossed into Matthew Taylor to provoke a fierce handball appeal.

Bennett initially appeared to wave play-on, but pointed to the spot after a lengthy discussion with his linesman.

And it was left to Crouch to stroke home a dramatic penalty winner.
