HE'S known as the biggest loner in music, but if that means more cerebral acoustic tunes from the scruffy troubadour then long may Adam Green keep trailing the proverbial high road in search on contentment.
The former Moldy Peaches cohort jets into the UK for a date at The Joiners on Thursday armed with his battered looking guitar, in support of his third studio album Gemstones, which is out now. New single Emily follows on February 7 The 23-year-old New Yorker effortlessly weaves the lyrical sensibility of Beck with the melancholic charm of Lou Reed and the vocal angst of Jim Morrisson, and has already supported The Strokes and Badly Drawn Boy.

METAL die-hards Aereogramme have got it all; crunching riffs, diesel soaked drums and beards that would make ZZ Top proud!
The Glasgow five-piece formed in the late 90s from the remnants of Ganger. They quickly launched their assault on the UK metal scene before cranking up their amps to rock Stateside. There, they recorded parts of their infamous Liver and Lungs EP in between gigs, while stuck in motel rooms and the back of their tour van.
After a handful of EPs and two critically acclaimed albums, the band are banking on their third release, Seclusion, to sledge-hammer them into the big time. Aereogramme play The Joiners on February 6.
INDIE-Pop melodists Ambulance Ltd stop off at the Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth on Monday as part of their 19-date UK tour.
The five-piece New York cite My Bloody Valentine, Neil Young and Booker T and The MGs as influences, though one listen to their shoe-gazing strums might convince you otherwise. Still, they could be well worth checking out if your like your music ladled with sunny-pop melodies. Ambulance Ltd play the Wedgewood Rooms on Monday.
THERE are two treats in store at the Turner Sims Concert Hall this week. On Saturday the internationally renowned Apollo Saxophone Quartet will perform some memorable film scores including music from Whispers for Archie's Chair and Blue Cell. Tickets £12.
On Tuesday the Gramophone Award-winning violinist Rachel Podger joins The Academy of Accient Music for an evening of double concertos and concerti grossi by the three masters of the Baroque - Bach, Handel and Vivaldi.
