ANDOVER could become Britain's very own answer to the American city of St Louis, Missouri, a councillor has suggested.
The stateside city's distinctive arch markets it as the 'Gateway To The West' and the equivalent could be done for Andover as the 'Gateway To the West of England', a member of Test Valley Borough Council's overview and scrutiny committee suggested.
Claire Chidley, the council's corporate director, told members that Andover needed something inspirational to market itself.
"I was watching an antiques show called Flog It and it referred to Andover as the gateway to the west, which I thought was rather apt," Cllr Craig Lewis told the committee.
The Master Plan for Andover will identify the shape of the town in 20 years time.
