ANDOVER'S Defence Logistics Organisation (DLO) reacted quickly to help those suffering from the Asian Tsunami disaster.

As soon as the Defence Transport and Movements Agency based at the DLO in Andover heard the news they started thinking about what the military could do in support.

With many vehicles already out supporting actions around the world the DLO provided as many vehicles as they could including one of the largest transport aircrafts.

Over the Christmas and New Year period staff were called into the DLO's warehouse in Ludgershall to build medical modules that contained emergency medical supplies.

Within seven hours a small team of workers had put together two tonnes of medical supplies.

Initially the modules will help treat around 2,500 people and provide additional medical care for another 4,500 people for up to three months.

When staff returned after the Christmas break they dug deep and managed to raise more than £1,800. In a separate fundraising venture the charitable spirit of DLO staff has meant that £350 was raised for the Countess of Brecknock Hospice.
