RON HANCOCK, Senior Instructor of the Romsey Kyushindo Karate Club, has received another National Award from the British National Martial Arts Association.
The award was presented at a ceremony in London for Ron's excellent work in helping young children to develop the life skills they will require for future challenges.
Last year was a very busy year for Ron, who also achieved his Black Belt Sixth Dan plus Distinctions in examinations for Child Protection, Health and Safety, Instruction and Senior Coaching.
Ron, who is a Fellow of the Institute of Karate Masters, believes that martial arts teach discipline, respect, perseverance, courtesy, teamwork, co-operation and integrity. The entire family can participate, combining physical fitness with character-building skills.
Not everyone who engages in martial arts will come away with a black belt, but the self-discipline, confidence and leadership skills taught will follow each individual into other areas of their lives, promoting the right attitude for the community that they live in.
Ron will now be concentrating on improving his own skills in order to go for his seventh Dan examination in six years time - while continuing to instruct others in the physical and mental skills necessary for them to succeed in life.
