THE Southampton FA Vets final will see A Division title favourites Netley face B Division counterparts Hamble Club.

Such is the fervour attached to this tie that attempts will be made to have the match played at Aerostructures in midweek under lights to allow a big local turnout which should see a record crowd for a Vets game in Hampshire.

Hamble strolled into the final with a 3-0 win against Compton with Robbie Cooke scoring the first two and Gordon McKeen sealing the tie by half time.

In contrast, Netley had to do it the hard way trailing Colden Common 3-1 before a great finish following some inspired substitutions turned the tie completely on its head. Common led through two Clive Eyre goals and Paul Riddell while Derek Hitchcock was Netley's early marksman.

Kev McCann, Ali Jarman and Richie Paskins were brought on and had the desired effect.

Paskins scored the pick of the goals, Jarman hit the equaliser and Jason Taylor pressured Bailey in the Common goal and the ball went in for a dramatic late winner. Unfortunately, Bailey broke his arm as he fell against the post.

In Junior 2 League action, Rikki May of Sporting BTC Reserves signed off his time in England with a double that brought a 2-1 win for his team against Cadnam United Reserves before jetting off for sunnier climes of South Africa. The result keeps Sporting in promotion contention, tucked in behind Bush Hill.
