HAMPSHIRE marine outfitters Trimline have started the year off with more than £1.5m in the order book after securing a series of cruise and passenger ship projects.
The work includes the new Thomson Cruises ship Thomson Celebration (formerly Noordam), P&O's Ocean Village and the latest addition to the Saga Cruises' fleet, Saga Ruby (formerly Caronia).
Activity started in earnest in January with the refit of Saga Ruby in Malta. Trimline, based at Northam in Southampton, will be creating a new Master's Cabin from two smaller areas, along with new accommodation for other officers.
New passenger facilities such as bars are also being created to bring the ship into line with Saga's specific requirements.
Thomson Celebration has entered Falmouth for a comprehensive two-month refit starting in February. Trimline, which employs 50 people full-time, plus a small army of subcontractors, will transform areas into new passenger cabins and refurbish public rooms. In addition, extensive work will be carried out on a children's play room, beauty salon and gym.
P&O's Ocean Village is also undergoing major work in May with Trimline having scooped a large order for soft furnishings.
