ONE OF Southampton's finest ever snooker and billiards players, Alf Hobbs, will be remembered by his family, friends and fellow players tomorrow.
Popular Hobbs who passed away last Monday, broke records throughout his life and even made a century break playing billiards after his 90th birthday last year.
Hobbs began playing at the age of 13 at the Portsmouth Radical Club before moving to Southampton to manage the Castle Club with his late wife Joan in the late 1960s.
Hobbs, whose highest breaks stand at 192 for billiards and 100 for snooker, won 150 snooker and billiards titles and kept the Southampton Billiards Cup after winning it 15 times.
He also won the Southampton Social Clubs Mintrum Cup at 65 and became Hampshire Billiard Champion at the age of 70.
Hobbs passed away aged 91. He had two sons.
A funeral service will be held at Southampton Crematorium tomorrow at 12.45pm followed by a reception at the 147 Club, Castle Way, Southampton.
