CAROL singing success: Looking back to Christmas, a group of churchgoers from Immanuel with St Mark's entertained festive shoppers at Sainsbury's and raised money for charity.

In two sessions they collected a total of £187.20 for NCH Action for Children.

They would like to express their grateful thanks to all those who donated, and also to Sainsbury's for supplying the singers with refreshments.

PHONE mast news: Confirmation now that Orange has lodged a planning application for two masts in the area - a 2G mast close to the chicane in Woodbury Road and a 3G mast near the Brighton Hill playing fields alongside Cliddesden Lane.

If the applications go through to the development control committee, they should be considered in early February or March.

CHILDREN'S Fun Club: The next one is on Saturday, February 5, from 10am until noon.

The club is for children of primary-school age who can enjoy a morning of crafts and activities.

Helping parents are very welcome and there is a reduction for helpers' children.

Booking is essential.

SENIORS group: The next meeting of the Hatch Warren Seniors Group takes place next Thursday.

It meets on the fourth Friday of every month at the community centre, from 1pm until 2.30pm.

New faces are always welcome.

NEW Year honour: War veteran David Kamsler will be very familiar to a lot of people in Hatch Warren due to his charity The Link.

It aims to recycle unwanted office equipment and furniture and pass it on to local good causes. The community centre and Hatch Warren Under Fives have both been recipients.

He has continued this work over the years, despite ill health.

Anyone who knows him, therefore, will be pleased to hear that he was honoured in the Queen's New Year honours.
