TWO of the jazz world's biggest stars, swing into the Concorde Club on February 2 for an amazing night of music, with just a dash of light-hearted humour.
The irrepressible George Melly is back at the Eastleigh club by popular demand, bringing with him one of the best trumpeters around, Digby Fairweather
A frequent guest at the Club, Good Time George' as he is affectionately know, will perform a night full of exceptional jazz and hilarious anecdotes.
George's talents extend far beyond his musician status. Not only is he one of the world's leading authorities on modern art, a skilled journalist and presenter too, he is also the author of a dozen book titles both autobiographical and art based.
Digby Fairweather, a magnificent trumpeter and a man who writes, directs, plays and enjoys every minute of his music. He was the only jazz trumpeter to appear at Tom Baron's, prestigious 2002 Blackpool Jazz Party which featured all of America's greatest mainstreamers.
Digby as ever is supported by the Half Dozen, a band who themselves have a pedigree of extensive careers spanning many genres of music.
"These guys have a combination of tremendous talent and a wealth of experience which promises to make the club really swing," said Cole Mathieson managing director of the Concorde Club. "George and Digby are the cream of the jazz scene. An evening with them is always one to remember."
