A man, who demanded money from a cashier at a Winchester bank after claiming he had a gun, was arrested on Wednesday morning.
Police and armed personnel were called to Barclays Bank, in Jewry Street, at around 9.20 and arrested a 63-year-old man from the Basingstoke area.
No members of the public were at the branch at the time. No-one was hurt and no weapon was recovered.
Anyone who saw a man acting suspiciously around Barclays Bank is asked to contact police at Winchester on 0845 045 45 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
