Barton Peveril College student Hannah Littlecott, 16, has won the silver medal at an elite national tournament.
The ex-Hamble School pupil met players of a very high calibre with a wealth of experience in the competition at the National Badminton Centre, Milton Keynes.
But she reached a close fought and very exciting final, narrowly losing 13-10, 11-9 to Laura Cousins from Hertfordshire.
Littlecott has been playing badminton since the age of nine and trains regularly at Fleming Park Leisure Centre in Eastleigh. Her commitment and outstanding ability has led her being ranked among England's top 20 senior women's singles players and in the top five under-17 girls.
She said: "I feel very proud that I got to the final as I wasn't expecting to get that far. I hope to play for England at senior level in the future."
