It just gets better and better for Fareham, who will secure a top four South Premier League, Division 2 slot if they beat Barnes at Henry Cort School on Saturday (1pm).
The Bath Lane club has begun the new year on a highly promising note, with a 3-0 win over relegation-threatened Bournemouth, following a creditable 3-3 draw at promotion-chasing Sevenoaks.
Fareham certainly weren't at their best in the opening exchanges against Bournemouth, but once teenage hot shot James Lawson applied the finishing touch to a slick build-up between Mark Kinder and Craig Peel, Fareham were on their way.
South African Scott Barton converted a penalty corner to make it 2-0 after the break and Lawson tucked away his seventh league goal of the season to complete the scoring.
Coach Nigel Cook was even more delighted with a share of the spoils at high-riding Sevenoaks.
"We went there minus about seven of our normal squad and clawed back a 3-1 deficit to get that 3-3 result," Cook beamed.
South African duo Craig Peel and Scott Barton netted, with Scott Shirley getting the other goal.
But Cook is a little worried that his South Africans may have gone AWOL in the past few days.
"They kept popping up everywhere after the new year, but I've not seen them at all in the past few days - but I guess that may have something to do with the cricket," he laughed.
Southampton's old stagers are through to the last 16 of the EHA Veterans Cup after fighting back to beat Jersey 2-1. Mascarenhas got both second half goals.
