Solent WTL have had adifficult season so far - down in the thick of the Senior 1 relegation struggle.
So it was a pleasant change for them to have a cup tie to temporarily replace their league worries, and the team responded to beat Premier Division AFC Target 3-2.
Their hope is now that they can translate that winning form into league points.
Solent went 3-0 up before the break with Darren Morris scoring twice. They managed to hold on despite a two-goal Target comeback in the second half for a cup triumph against a team who were 2003 losing finalists.
In the Ron Vallance Junior League Cup, Bush Hill defeated Capital Reserves from Division 1 for the second time in cup competitions this season, the Chapman brothers Kraig and Aaron both on the mark in their 4-0 win.
Hamble Harrier Reserves surprised Keywords 2-1, with Martin Buckland and Pete McColm doing the business.
Botley Village Reserves gave themselves a chance of progress to the Plate competition with a fine 4-3 group stage defeat of Priory Rovers Reserves.
