THE words were flowing around the clock at Eastleigh's Alderman Quilley School.
Bookworms were able to celebrate the written word with a readathon in the school library.
Organised by the English department, the first page was turned at 7am and the print marathon went on until 7pm. Head of the English department, John Parker, said: "It is has been a celebration of the enjoyment of reading in a really informal atmosphere."
Among those joining pupils for the readathon were parents, staff, school governors, and scholars from feeder schools. Eastleigh mayor Councillor, June Hughes, found herself back in school again as she joined in with a couple of her favourite poems.
The number of people taking part was set to go well past last year's figures of 330.
