Alresford duo Ken Mills and Barry Norgate comfortably retained the Zambra Trophy at Hockley - traditional new year opener for the Hampshire Alliance of amateur and professional golfers.
On a clear, sunny day when a stiff breeze added spice to the golf on the hillside course, Mills and Norgate were the only players under par, shooting 102 against the par of 105.
They were well clear after 18 holes with a four under par 67, which included five birdies, then added a 35 for the afternoon nine.
Second place in the amateur section went to Alan Nash and Peter Hatch (Waterlooville) with 109.5, followed by Matt Emerson (Army) and Derek Sheppard (Hockley) with 110.
Hockley pro Gar Stubbington teamed up with immediate past captain Dave Meclenburgh to post the best pro-am score of 106.5, one ahead of Chris Hudson (Southwood) and Ian Walton (The Army), with third place being shared by Matt Tryhorn and Dave Estall (Corhampton) and David Porter (East Horton) and Brian Young (Alresford).
