Southampton Shipping Golf Society is now in its 84th year - making it one of the oldest in England.

It was inaugurated in 1921 when Philip Curry, manager of the White Star line in Southampton, was their first president.

The Southampton society held their annual meeting and supper at Romsey Golf Club where Ross Sinclair was installed as the new president.

Sinclair, who was secretary for five years, became their 79th president when he took over from Dave Corbett.

One of the new president's first duties was to present the Society's wonderful array of trophies to the respective winners. Top of the pile was Peter Burden, who won the Society Championship for the third year running.

And the president paid tribute to Peter Judge and Stuart Withington, who achieved holes in one during the season.

The Society treasure their trophy collection, which goes back many years and was left in the safe keeping of Parkhouse and Wyatt during the Second World War years.

Parkhouse and Wyatt premises were damaged by enemy action but fortunately the cups were largely unscathed.

Sinclair is pictured presenting the John Smith Challenge Cup to immediate past president Dave Corbett.
