Sir.-I would like to thank the good people of Basingstoke who contributed to The Lions Club of Basingstoke's annual Christmas street collection.
This raised some £1,600 towards the donation of food vouchers to individuals in the town nominated by the caring organisations as being in need of special attention at Christmas.
Many letters of appreciation have been received from the recipients of this generous gesture.
As with all Lions fundraising, no money is retained for in-house administration, thus everything collected has gone directly to the nominated cause.
-John Lincoln, Fundraising Chairman, Neville Close, Basingstoke.
Sir.-Oakley Division of St John Ambulance collected £838.30 by offering a pack-a-bag service at Sainsbury's, in Hatch Warren, on December 22 and 23.
We wish to thank everyone for their generosity.
-J Gould, Div Secretary, The Cornfields, Hatch Warren, Basingstoke.
