BOXING Day walk: The walk, which has now become a long-standing and well-supported Old Basing tradition, was, once again, a great success.

It was organised by the parish council, and left the Hatch pub on time.

The walkers enjoyed a refreshing walk on a truly festive brisk and cold morning.

There were in excess of 180 walkers, many with their dogs.

Not many took the short route, and all completed the walk.

DEER: Many people called me about the dead deer on the side of the road near the veterinary surgery.

Unfortunately, it had to stay there for three or four days as the council offices were closed.

The carcass was removed by a passing motorist at about 10am on Tuesday, January 4.

CHARITY shop at Chineham: During the Christmas recess, many people put black sacks of donations outside the charity shop near Tesco.

It accumulated there for about four days until the shop opened on January 4.

Everything had to be thrown away as someone had urinated on it.

Please be aware that if you leave stuff outside the door at the hospice shop, it has to be put in the skip for health and safety reasons.

PRESENTATION: Page 35 of the Basinga shows that there is a health and wellness management presentation at the village hall tomorrow.

Please be aware that this is not just a formal presentation, as there is a disco, complimentary drinks and a finger buffet.

All of this costs just £6 for non-members and £2 for members.

Some of the profits will go to the children's ward at the hospital.

It starts at 7.30pm and finishes about 11.30pm.

Contact Kate, on 01256 300461, or Clare, on 300470, for more details.

OPEN morning: The Boltons under-five playgroup is having an open morning at the Beddington Centre on Tuesday, between 9.30am and 12.30pm.
