HISTORY group: It is a little-known fact that Hook used to be the centre of a thriving clock-making industry.
Actually, it's so little-known it may not be entirely true.
To find out how true it is, go along to Hook Local History Group's meeting on Monday, for a talk entitled "Local Clockmakers".
Mark Forrester, a clock enthusiast from Odiham, will present a history of clock-making in the local area.
It starts at 8pm at St John's. All are welcome and entrance costs £2.
DANCING course: If you have been glued to Strictly Come Dancing on television, then you can join in with Hook's very own version.
Strictly Dancing Course is the name of a new six-week course which has just started at the community centre.
It takes place every Friday, from 8.15pm to 9.45pm.
The programme includes the cha-cha, waltz and jive.
No experience is necessary and you can arrive with or without your own partner.
For more information and to book a place, contact Michele on 762638.
ROADWORKS: The police have been busy in Hook over the past few weeks, and you may have noticed roadworks along the A30.
Lay-bys are being built opposite Hook House Farm and close to Geffery's House for police to park in when they are using safety cameras.
POLICE house: Building work started again this week at the new police house on London Road and is due for completion by the end of June. The building will include a holding cell.
