SOME of my readers have noticed that I have not produced this column for several weeks, so I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy and healthy 2005.
The reason that I have not written about the usual news and events in Baughurst is that my husband has been ill and I have spent a lot of time going to the hospital.
For those of you who do not know, my husband is Don Allen, the county councillor for Kingsclere and Tadley, and the executive member for education for Hampshire County Council.
About a month ago he had a serious operation and, as a result, spent Christmas and New Year as a patient in Basingstoke hospital, where he received excellent treatment and nursing.
I am pleased to say that he is now at home again, and recovering well, but will be recuperating for a week or two before taking up his duties again.
I would like to thank everyone who enquired and showed an interest and sent good wishes while Don was ill.
BAUGHURST village get-together afternoon: Takes place on Tuesday, at Heath End Hall, from 2pm to 4pm. All are welcome.
If you require help with transport, call Margaret Bushell on 0118 9812787.
CONTACT me: If you have any information you would like to see in this column, I need to have it by the weekend for publication the following Friday.
