Detectives investigating the death of a young man whose body was found in a Winchester flat have named him as Andrew Barnett.
The body of Mr Barnett (21) was discovered at Faber's Yard, Staple Gardens, after an ambulance was called to a flat at around 7.30am on Wednesday. Police were also called and immediately arrested two men. They were questioned, but later released on bail until February 23rd.
Detectives say they are unsure as to the cause of Mr Barnett's death, but believe it may have been drug-related. A post mortem carried out later that day was inconclusive and the results of toxicology tests are still awaited.
People on their way to work witnessed the scene at Faber's Yard, which was surrounded by police and ambulance crews. Forensic experts also attended the block, made up of 22 Winchester Housing Association flats, while officers made further inquiries.
The social housing complex has had a chequered history. In April, 2003, an inquest heard how Stephen Prangle (37), from Highcliffe, died of a heart attack in a flat there after he had taken drugs. A month earlier, 58-year-old Brian Butt, who lived in one of the flats, was stabbed outside his front door.
One resident, Kier Morrison, said he hadn't known the man who died, but that there was always something "going on" at the flats. He added that people kept themselves to themselves. "No-one sees anybody. I've been here eight years and I don't even know my next-door neighbour."
