AN Andover school shared top place in the private sector in provisional GCSE performance tables for secondary schools in England.
Rookwood School topped the Hampshire league table with three other independent schools where 100 per cent of GCSE pupils scooped five or more A*s to Cs.
Stockbridge's Test Valley School was the Andover area state school celebrating the most success in the performance tables after a record-breaking year saw it ranked joint 18th in the table with 70 per cent of year 11s getting five or more A*s to Cs in 2004.
But two of Andover's town schools are among the bottom 15 in the county tables. Harrow Way School is ranked joint 66th out of 71 Hampshire LEA schools, while Winton School is 59th.
