Trojans will have company at the top of Hampshire Division One if their main challengers, Sandown & Shanklin, win their re-arranged league clash with struggling Nomads tomorrow.

The Islanders will only trail the Stoneham Lane men on points difference - providing they don't humiliate the Portsmouth-based side by more than 90 points - and set up a two-team showdown as the season rolls to an exciting climax.

Skipper Lee Priddle, in his first season at the helm of the Hurricanes, knows that the trip across the Solent will not lead to an easy task, given Nomads' perilous position. Second from bottom and facing a swift return, alongside Alresford, back to Hampshire Division Two, Nomads will be searching out every point.

Priddle is keeping his cards close to his chest with regards to his starting line-up, considering the couple of injuries in the thumping win over US Portsmouth last week, but is hoping that the players will be fit.

"I know that Nomads have not been going too well in the league and have been concentrating on their cup run so, now they are out, they will be turning their attention to the league and that is why we know it will difficult," he said.

The hosts name a full-strength squad for the visit of the Islanders.

National League survival is on Havant's agenda and, after the debacle of their defeat at Hertford last week, director of rugby Adam King has informed his team that every playing shirt is up for grabs.

Havant host Old Patesians, a side they have slumped twice against already this season. Another defeat will see them relinquish sixth place and slide into the relegation mire.

With the words of their director ringing in their ears, there is likely to be a host of changes with coach Owen Cobbe returning at fly-half while former Scotland Under-21 and last season's Melrose captain Bruce Ruthven standing by to take a centre place. All positions are subject to change, with players contesting placings and King was terse in his comments.

"If we continue to perform like we did last week, then we will be looking for directions to Canterbury rather than Redruth next season.

"It is better for the players if I am honest and unpopular rather than the other way round but we simply have to improve and, hopefully, with a big crowd behind us, we can give Patesians an uncomfortable ride away from their home comforts."
