Lomana Lua Lua will unveil a new goal celebration if he scores his seventh Pompey goal against Blackburn tomorrow - after doctors ordered him to STOP somersaulting.
Striker Lua Lua is set to play his first game since Christmas after recovering from the ear infection he suffered after receiving a bang to the side of his head during Pompey's 1-1 draw at Liverpool last month.
The 24-year-old has undergone ear surgery since then after being told he could go deaf without the treatment.
And now he has been told that the injury could resurface if he continues to celebrate every goal he scores with his trademark acrobatics.
Lua Lua, who sealed a £1.7m move to Fratton Park in the summer, has scored six goals in 21 starts since signing on loan from Newcastle last February.
But when he scores his seventh he intends to be a little more reserved.
He said: "I've got to think of something different because my health is important and I don't want to miss any more games.
"But it will be a team effort, we'll think of something together.
"We'll have to be imaginative because nowadays you can't even take your top off - but I was thinking of getting round that one by wearing another shirt underneath!"
Lua Lua netted a late equaliser against Liverpool after receiving the blow that caused the infection - and he intends to make up for lost time after missing five games.
He added: "It's been difficult watching from the sidelines because there were games where I felt I could add to my tally.
"I spent my 24th birthday watching us play Chelsea from the stand which was annoying, but it's all behind me now."
Lua Lua's injury has helped ensure that he has not yet been linked with a move from Fratton Park during the transfer window - unlike his strike partner and close friend Yakubu.
"I wouldn't blame him if he went in the summer but I don't think Yakubu will go yet," added Lua Lua.
"We haven't had many chances to play together because one of us has always been injured.
"So I'm looking forward to playing with him again because me and Yakubu can only get better.
"Sometimes in football you have to move on, but he would be leaving a lot of friends, as I did when I moved down from Newcastle.
"Hopefully he will stay so we can both help Pompey climb the table because he's one of the best strikers I've played with.
"He's similar to Alan Shearer but he can get better, he's got everything he needs to be one of the best in the Premiership.
"He's strong, and, unlike me, he's a natural goalscorer. He just knows where the goal is, he sniffs goals and bullies defenders which makes it easy for me to run at them because he tires them out."
Pompey manager Velimir Zajec is without Andy Griffin, who has a hamstring injury and is also out of the FA Cup fourth round clash against Saints.
