STILL nifty at 90 - but is this the most energetic pensioner in Hampshire?
John Foan entered his tenth decade last month, but the sprightly OAP still fills his days with a string of activities which include walking two dogs, feeding seven cats, shopping, piano-playing and taking out his mother-in-law.
Wife Hannah, 63, wrote to the Daily Echo about her lively husband, saying: "He is not just any elderly gentleman. He is an extraordinary and wonderful man."
She laid down a challenge to find a more active 90-year-old in the county.
"I see other men of 90 around and they seem like really old people," she said. "But not my Johnny."
Former professional cellist John, who lives in Clarendon Road, Shirley, starts his busy day at 8am.
He feeds the pets, plays piano while Hannah wakes up, then takes the dogs for a walk on Southampton Common before taking his mother-in-law shopping.
The grandfather-of-three is even planning to join Marchwood Concert Orchestra next year.
"Music has kept me feeling young, I still love playing as much as I have ever done" said John, who faced a battle with cancer in the 1960s.
"And also Hannah, who's always a cheerful person who's looked after me so much."
