Surprise package London Airways have flown through to the Hampshire A Cup quarter finals after a hard-fought extra time win over Binstead & COB Res.
The match was all square at 2-2 after 90 minutes with Clayton Brown and Rob Hibbert scoring before Damian Boyle sealed the win in the extra period.
Bitterne RBL did themselves proud, holding New Inn to a single-goal defeat, while there was some revenge for the Drew Smith League as Bricklayers inflicted a 5-1 defeat on New Inn Res. Butler brothers Mark and Dave scored one each with Jason Ryan, Dean Cassell and Lewis McCartney also getting in on the act.
Bush Hill returned from Borough Arms (Andover) with a fine 3-1 win with Kraig Chapman nabbing a brace.
Rikki May of Sporting BTC Res also grabbed a pair as his team defeated A&M Sports 4-2, so, with four teams in the last eight, the possibility of a Southampton team in the final looms large, but avoiding New Inn in the draw is the priority.
In contrast, the B Cup brought little to cheer about but there was one bright spark. Inter Northam won 5-0 at Wey Valley with a pair apiece from top scorers Stuart Saint and Chris Neale.
Harrier Res were unfortunate to go out to Cowes OB on penalties after a 0-0 draw.
South Western lost by the only goal at Magpies & Woolbridge, who are proving a thorn in the side of our teams this season.
Scott Kempsey of Flames put his team ahead against Ryde Saints but it was the Saints who emerged winners by 2-1.
