BOOKWORMS will soon be able to make the most of longer opening hours at Eastleigh Library.
From January 17 the library will open its doors from 9am instead of 9.30am, bringing opening hours more into line with other outlets in the Swan Centre.
The People's Network computer terminals, which offer free use of the Internet, will be available from 9.15am to 5.15pm.
The extended opening hours are part of Hampshire County Council's commitment to making its services as accessible as possible to people in local communities.
And the changes at Eastleigh follow similar changes at other libraries across the county in 2004, including Hedge End, West End, Fair Oak and Netley.
The county council's executive member for recreation and heritage, Councillor John Waddington, said: "Recent research shows that more people would use libraries if they were open for longer.
"With people today leading such busy lives it is important that we adapt our libraries to ensure that everyone can access these greatly valued services which play an important role in aiding learning and skills development."
Opening hours will be Monday to Friday from 9am until 5.30pm and Saturday from 9am until 5pm. For more information call 023 8061 2513.
