AN Eastleigh man is offering a reward to anyone who can help track down vandals who caused thousands of pounds' worth of damage to his new Land Rover Freelander.

The Land Rover was Henry Czak's pride and joy and thefirst new vehicle he had ever bought.

But New Year's Eve vandals gave Mr Czak a heartbreak start to 2005 when they targeted the Land Rover parked on the driveway of his Tennyson Road home.

Every panel on the vehicle, except the roof and tailgate, were scratched by the culprits using a sharp instrument.

An attempt was made to spell an obscene word and carve an offensive image on the bonnet.

The damage is estimated at £3,000 and Mr Czak, a 59 year-old retired maintenance engineer, is offering a £1,000 reward for anyone who can provide the police with information leading to the arrest of those responsible.

He has printed about 50 posters which he has displayed on lamp- posts and other public places.

Mr Czak says he has had sleepless night since the sickening attack.

He said: "I've had the Land Rover since last April and it really is my pride and joy. When I saw what they had done I was flabbergasted."

PC Ian Wilson of Eastleigh Police said: "The damage is totally unacceptable and has caused the aggrieved considerable inconvenience of expense. If anyone has any information about who may be responsible we would like them to contact us immediately."

If you can help, call PC Wilson at Eastleigh police station on 08450454545 or the anonymous Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555111.
