Some like it hot and top Hampshire golfer James Ablett revelled in the heat of the Arizona Desert recently.
The Lee-on-the-Solent left-hander finished tied second in the big Arizona Classic Pro-Am at Scottsdale, won by Surbiton's Neil Reilly.
Reilly opened up with two rounds of 67 to leave the field trailing in his wake, but Ablett, who began with a 69, finished strongly with a 68 to join Craig Cowper (World of Golf) and David Mills (Seaford) in second place with three under par 284s.
It was a great trip for Meon Valley's Terry Drake, who was in Reilly's winning pro-am team.
The event, played at four different venues including TPC Scottsdale, home of the Phoenix Open, was supported by several other Hampshire PGA professionals including John Hay, Alan Mew and Andy Gordon.
It was Ablett's debut in the event.
