PARISH council: Residents will have noticed that repair work has been going on at the granary, which stands on the green on the corner of Minchens Lane.

This unique building belongs to the village and is in the care of the parish council.

A grant of £250 is anticipated from Hampshire County Council and the balance of about £750 is to be funded by the parish council.

Bramley granary is unique in that most of the structure is still original.

The parish council has agreed that it will be open and manned for viewing during Heritage Weekend, September 8 to 11.

An environmental and recreational grant is available and councillors have been asked for suitable items.

Cllr Richard Wood noted the lack of information on local church services, and so the matter of a notice board and the best location for it will be on next month's agenda.

LIFEBOATS: News from Sheila Dance, our village representative, is that the £20,000 needed to purchase an inshore lifeboat has been raised by the Mortimer branch of the RNLI.

This is over and above the £12,000 brought in by book sales, trash and treasure and autumn sales in 2004.

Those who have helped in the house-to-house distribution of leaflets and given donations are thanked for their efforts.

We hope to help again this year.

The boat will be named at an event later in the year.

USED stamps: I am appealing, again, for your used stamps.

Just cut around them, leaving a border of the envelope, and let me have them as soon as you can.

Either Helen House Children's Hospice or St Michael's Hospice will take them.
