HUNDREDS of Hampshire schoolchildren touched by the devastation caused by the Asian tsunami watch their teachers battle it out on the football field to raise vital appeal funds.
Every student at Henry Cort Community College in Fareham, which has a role of more than 1,000 pupils, took to the sports field to support their teachers as they went head-to-head in a staff football match.
They were allowed to leave class to watch the Veterans take on the Nippers - if they made a donation of at least 50 pence.
Most topped the fund up with £1, £5 or even £10 of their pocket money.
Organisers believe they have raised in excess of £800.
Organiser Mike Hartnell, a maths teacher at the school, said: "We played a charity match about a year and a half ago for Children in Need.
"But we really felt we must do something for this and organised another. It's such a worthwhile cause."
The Veterans - staff aged over 35 - ran out 3-0 winners over the Nippers, staff aged under 35.
