A TEENAGER who paid out all her savings for a wig that never arrived has been offered a new one, with the help of the Daily Echo.
A kind-hearted reader saw Roxanne Hallett's story - and has phoned up to offer a wig she bought several years ago.
Sixteen-year-old Roxanne, who's training to be a hairdresser, paid $70 for a real human hair wig on Internet auction site eBay, to hide her alopecia.
She owns a synthetic wig given to her by the NHS, but it will take up to a year before the health service can provide a top quality real hair wig. In the meantime, she ordered the brown wig, with highlights, from an American company via eBay.
But three months later, it has still not arrived and Roxanne feels she's been the victim of a cruel Web scam.
"I was just really annoyed and upset. It was quite a big thing for me to get this - a wig is an important to me as make-up is for any woman," she told the Daily Echo.
However, just hours after reading her story, a mystery reader contacted us to say she had a blonde wig which she would pass on to the teenager.
The woman, who did not want to be identified, said: "I bought it because I had an operation which meant I had to shave off half my hair, but I didn't use it in the end.
"It's just sitting upstairs not being used, and it would be great if it could go to a good home."
Roxanne, who began losing her hair when she was just 14, was delighted.
"It's really nice of her to offer - thanks very much," she said.
