REFLECTION: Another year has passed.

Upon reflection it was a good year for the village, with the carnival, village show, festivities at the church and many other activities by The Friends of St Mary's, the Friends of Basing House, the school PTA and the legion band, all contributing to make this a wonderful place to live.

YET again: We have an individual in the village who is willing to give up his time and effort for the benefit of village residents.

Young Terry Scrase, a past parish councillor, a village hall committee member and someone who has done a lot of work to benefit our residents, is to take on another task.

He is setting up a Community Response team.

It will consist of residents who are trained by Hampshire Ambulance Service in the ability to render assistance to people in need of quick response treatment for a wide range of life-threatening conditions, in particular the administering of defibrillators to suspected heart cases.

Terry wants volunteers to be trained in the art of quick response in life-threatening situations, but needs money to set this up.

Please give him a call on 322522.

This will work with your support. Make it work for the village.

ALLOTMENTS: Sally Friday has asked me to remind you that the allotment trading hut is open on Sunday.

She wants your lolly for your membership fees and wants your seed orders for next year.

She also needs volunteers for the running of the hut.

Contact her via e-mail on sallyfriday153@hotmail.com or call 323602.

WALKING: Yes, another calorie-busting walk.

This one is tomorrow, starting at 2pm at the great barn, with Alan Turton leading the way.

Nicola will probably be at the rear gathering strays and branding them for membership to The Friends of Basing House.

If you don't go on the walk, and you want to join The Friends, it will cost you a pittance.

They have regular meetings and the next one is on Thursday, at 7.30pm, in the tea rooms at Basing House.
