THE Lions: The New Year should always start with a good old spring clean, and if you are looking for an incentive, Hook and Odiham Lions can offer one.

They run a Lions Community Store in Fleet, where goods can be collected and then redistributed.

In particular, they are looking for small items of furniture, bedding, clothes and white goods in good working condition.

For more details, contact the store on 01252 616998.

The Lions are also collecting unwanted spectacles to be distributed in the Third World.

If you have any old glasses that you are no longer using, then please drop them into the Lions' collection box at Brown and Whites Optician in Hook.

HOOK Eagle Morris Men: Will be bringing in the New Year on their traditional Hair of the Dog tour around the local hostelries.

They can be seen at The Swan at North Warnborough at 12.20pm, The Anchor at North Warnborough at 1pm, The Fox and Goose at Greywell at 1.30pm and then at the Crooked Billet at 2.30pm.

There'll be plenty of music and fun and a chance to join in with the last dance.

CHURCH service: If you're wondering what 2005 will bring, then why not go along to the New Covenant Church's family service, entitled "Another New Year - So What!"?

It starts at 10.30am at Elizabeth Hall on Sunday.

HELPERS: Hampshire Wildlife Trust will be sweeping out the Christmas cobwebs this Sunday, on the Greywell Moors, and is always in need of some extra helpers.

The work will involve clearing the brambles, so don't forget to bring along some gloves.

The trust will be meeting at the Pumping Station (OS 723513) at 10am for a 10.15am start, and generally finish at lunchtime for some refreshments in a local pub.
