A HOUSING association has marked the redevelopment of a former Ludgershall landmark with the presentation of £250 which will be used to buy shrubs for the village Jubilee Garden.
The former E E Roy site had been closed for many months but in its heyday in post-war years was a hive of activity. Former manager of the High Street enterprise, Ken Beard, who spent more than 20 years there, accepted the cheque on behalf of the parish council.
"At one time we had 60 staff employed here, many of them working on refurbishing furniture for Ministry of Defence married quarters across the country," he said.
Now the area has been transformed by the King-fisher Housing Association which has built a couple of two-bedroom houses, seven two-bedroom flats and two, two bedroom maisonettes.
They will be rented out to local people at open market rents.
