A SOUTHAMPTON boy with muscular dystrophy has been given a helping hand by Somerfield after the store raised money to buy him an electric standing frame.
Connor Thomas, 11, from Lordswood, has Duchenne muscular dystrophy - a severe muscle weakening condition. He needed a frame to make standing more comfortable and to improve the movement in his joints.
Now the Somerfield store, which this year chose the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign as its charity of the year, bought the equipment with money raised through its national fundraising effort.
Colin Sutton, the divisional executive for Somerfield stores, said: "It is great that we have been able to help Connor through our partnership with the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
"We hope the standing frame will help Connor to be more comfortable."
