Festivity was high on the agenda in New Forest Cycling Club's annual Boxing Day 10-mile time trial with a high standard of competition on the Ringwood to Sopley road.
But there was no lack of effort in the speed stakes with Primera Bournemouth's Bryce Dyer finishing in a hard-earned 24mins 20secs to win in the cold conditions.
Second place went to VC St Raphael/Waite Contracts' Malcolm Cox with 24-43, which was good enough to beat Dyer's team-mate Ryan James into third by 13 seconds.
Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers' Neil Woodgate shrugged off the frost and rode in short sleeves to fourth place with 25-02.
Primera's Louisa Peters won the women's award for her 29-16, which beat Louis Burman (Bournemouth Arrow CC) by 30 seconds.
Fastest veteran was Martin Le Fevre (Bournemouth Arrow) ,whose 25-04 was good enough for fifth place. Great efforts have been made in the fancy dress competition over the years, and 2004 was no exception with Sotonia CC's Norman Harvey and Mary Corbett riding tandem as a bride and groom to take the top award.
Another two pairs, Scott and Laura Evans and Alan and Jo McRae, all of Bournemouth Arrow CC/Fircroft Hotel, trotted out as Santa, sleigh and reindeer outriders for second! New Forest CC's Martin Beale was third in the fancy dress as Elvis and still managed to clock a respectable 27-51.
Sue Longland (Antelope RT) was fourth as a Chinaman and New Forest CC's Elizabeth Pascoe was fifth as a Pirate.
Other New Forest CC times: John Nye 28-12, Chris Mills 30-45, Elizabeth Pascoe 33-26, John Martin 35-15.
