THE sudden cold snap followed by rain which thawed out most of the grounds meant that it was purely pot luck if clubs managed to play any football over the Christmas holidays.
With Christmas Day falling on a Saturday the period was extended with the Premiership, Football League and Conference clubs having fixtures on the Sunday before the rest caught up on the Monday and Tuesday.
Andover's Hampshire Senior Cup opponents Aldershot lost to lowly Forest Green Rovers in front of nearly 3,000 on Sunday afternoon, although had it been scheduled for a morning kick-off there would have been no chance.
