Such was the number of entries for the annual Christmas Tournament, it could not be finished at the John Hanson, the final being carried over to the following week and played as the opening event in the new premises known as the Portway 'Depot'.
Fifty players entered this popular event, which is played on a knock out basis.
Playing two singles and one doubles to decide the winners, Carl Wheatley and partner Simon Taylor fought their way to the semi-finals where they disposed of Jamie Cotterell and Matt Carter.
In the other half of the draw, Craig Canavan and Dominic Brown progressed to the final after beating Shaun Carver and Shane Lewis.
