Police say the man, who is in his 40s and from the local area, had been drinking in the Saxon Inn pub in Calmore Drive, Totton, shortly before he was found in the same road several hours later.
He was taken by ambulance to Southampton General Hospital after the incident which happened sometime between Monday evening and yesterday morning.
