BEMERTON Heath Harlequins' 14-match winless streak finally came to an end last night with a welcome 3-0 victory over VTFC at Western Way.
The Wiltshire side hadn't won a Division 1 match since their 1-0 success at Andover on October 17.
"It's not as though we've been playing badly but the luck finally went us," smiled Harlequins secretary Andy Hardwick. "The scoreline did flatter us a little bit and we rode our luck at times but we desperately needed a change of fortunes."
Stuart Findlay opened the scoring for the hosts after just four minutes but their nerves weren't settled until ten minutes from time when Findlay added a second following good work by Nicky Collier.
Jason Ahmet put the seal on a 3-0 success with a 20-yard drive five minutes later.
Division 2 leaders Lymington Town strengthened their grip on top spot with an impressive 4-0 victory at Blackfield & Langley to move eight points clear at the summit.
Paul Sims latched onto a pass from Charlie Balfe to fire the visitors into a sixth minute lead and it was Sims who doubled their advantage after 15 minutes with a neat chip.
Scott Metcalfe added a third on the hour mark following a smart one-two with John Bailey before Balfe's cross was chested down by Kev Brennan who then smashed his shot past the keeper to complete the scoring after 70 minutes.
