LocalS have certainly found some cracking rays with Alan Shergold and Stephen Buckle landing a brace of beauties while tackling the Southbourne section.

The duo were targeting rays during an evening session using sandeel as bait when Shergold beached a specimen of 7lb 7oz.

Only a few minutes later Buckle landed another small-eyed of 7lb 8oz.

Southampton's Jason Cotton, a member of Southampton SAC, landed a superb specimen undulate ray during a sortie to Chesil beach of exactly 15lb.

The final round of the Isaac Open Pegged League was held at Stokes Bay where 61 of the 63 competitors returned two bass, three dabs, eight flounders, three plaice, nine pollack, 143 pouting, nine rockling, one sole and 57 whiting.

The overall winner on the night from C Section was Paul Titt (6lb 7.5oz) followed by Mike Kempster (5lb .25oz), John Lintern (3lb 13oz) and Mike Perfect (3lb 10oz).

Paul Phillips was the top performer in B Section (4lb 1.75oz) from Dave Lane (3lb 5.25oz), Steve Deathe (2lb 8.75oz) and Colin Richards (2lb 5.50oz).

The final section was won by Joe Arch (3lb 10oz) ahead of Colin Carey (1lb 8.75oz), Paul Stevens (1lb 8oz) and Gillion Thompson (1lb 7.75oz).

The overall series winner was Joe Arch (16 points) from Alan Gilbert (34), Ian Golds (42), Colin Richards (43), Chris Equeall (43), Lee Cullen (43), Mike Kempster (46), Dave Lane (48), Ian Dancey (49), Paul Titt (53) and Tony Burton (59).

l Avon Beach was the setting for the final round of the Neptune League 4-a-side interclub fixture where pouting supplied most of the action.

The Bournemouth & District A team (Paul Blehs, Jeffery Fisk, Steve Bishop and Brian Fish) won with 3lb 15.5oz.

l The Lymington Club stage their annual Flounder Open on the Lymington & Pennington sea wall on Sunday.

Fishing is from 11am to 4pm with booking-in from 8.30am at the Clubhouse situated at the far end of Bath Rd car park.

Tickets are £7 and there will also be a two-man team event plus a £1 pool.

The event will have a £250 top prize along with a large prize table.

With flounders weighing over 3lb already been taken from the marshes during recent weeks, a real biggie topping 4lb could well put in an appearance during the event which doubles up as a Penn Point fixture.

l The Stamshaw Club stage their Hanover Open on New Year's Day along the Stamshaw and Tipner shoreline with fishing from 12.30pm to 4.30pm. Flounders are expected to supply most of the action.
