DELIVERY giant TNT has been presented with a Prince Michael International Safety Award for a hi-tech partnership that has helped reduce accidents involving the company's vehicles.
TNT, which has a regional depot at Nursling, Southampton, and Interactive Driving Systems teamed up to develop a computerised driver training package.
Using driver simulator software, the RoadRISK programme enables TNT to test its drivers' road safety knowledge, perception of hazards and attitudes towards driving.
The company uses it as an integral part of its recruitment process to evaluate potential drivers.
The award was welcomed by employees at TNT's Southampton depot. General manager, Mark Roscoe, said: "As an industry leader in the field of health and safety, we are keen to promote safety on our own premises and in the wider community."
