Waterlooville duo John Hay and Harry Robertson won the Hampshire Alliance Christmas meeting at Waterlooville - but had no trophy to show for it.
Club professional Hay and club captain Robertson compiled a superb eight under 64 for the four ball better ball medal - but because Robertson was a guest, they couldn't take the trophy.
That was awarded to second-placed Rob Edwards (Lee-on-the-Solent) and Mick Clay (Rowlands Castle) who came home in 66 helped by a five under par back nine.
One shot behind was new Sandford Springs assistant Rhy ap Iolo with former Hampshire champion David Harrison, who had a 67.
Meon Valley's Simon Pink, who finished in a tie for fourth place, has taken the Francis Holmes Aggregate Trophy for the best nett scores over the year's four medal rounds, while David Porter (East Horton) picked up the Jack Smith Baffie for the best score by a trainee in the Christmas meeting.
