MAY Place Hostel at Christmas: Please remember the residents in May Place Hostel for the homeless and leave any gifts of food or wrapped gifts marked "male" or "female" in the box at the back of the church.

Grateful thanks from all at the hostel for the support they receive from Bramley.

BRAMLEY and Romans Floral Society: At a glittering evening on December 3, Barbara Hudson gave her interpretation of Christmas.

As the curtain rose, the packed audience saw five tall pedestals. Barbara had dressed the first up in silver, lilac, dark red roses and pink lilies.

With the next, she designed a circle with a large bell in silver and greenery with white flowers.

Two more colourful arrangements followed and then the final, in a font-like container, was bronze amaryllis, roses and conifer.

Barbara kept up a running commentary of humorous stories of her travels and, particularly, of the dogs she had met along the way.

The vote of thanks was given by Jay Hudson (no relation) for a wonderful demonstration, and the flowers were then raffled.

A delicious supper followed.

There were many gift parcels from members and friends to be donated to local care homes the next day.

USED stamps: Please remember to save the used stamps from your Christmas card envelopes.

They are of value to charities and I find that St Michael's Hospice will take them, so just let me have them, and I will see that they get there.

A happy Christmas to all.
