THE agent of Egyptian striker Mido admits he's heard nothing regarding a potential move to Saints in the transfer window.

The 21-year-old was heavily linked with a move to St Mary's back in the summer before leaving Marseille to join Roma.

Now there is fresh speculation that Mido could be about to end his miserable time in the Italian capital - IF James Beattie is sold.

There was fresh speculation today linking Everton with a £5m bid for Beattie next month - while Saints were linked with Spurs target Christian Wilhelmson, the Swedish wide midfielder.

As for Mido, Roma could want to recoup the £2.5m they paid for him, or he could be one of the short-term loan deals Harry Redknapp has spoken of bringing in.

Agent Christophe Henrotay said: "I've heard nothing from the Southampton chairman recently, but I do know he was interested back in the summer.

"My view is that they'd only be interested in Mido if Beattie is sold. It could be a possibility, I don't know - Mido went to Roma on August 31 and if you had asked me on August 15 I would have said he'd never end up going there. I'm convinced he shouldn't have gone to Roma, but what can you do? He's 21 - he can make up his own mind. He saw it as a dream move but he's only been playing as a sub."

Mido first came to Saints' attention in 2001 when he was at Ajax. He signed for Marseille in 2003 but lived in Didier Drogba's shadow before moving to Roma.
