SILVERLAKE Animal Sanctuary owner Win Skiff has been given a cheque for £250 from Fawley councillor Lee Dunsdon.
The cash was handed over at a fundraising fete held at the Droxford centre.
Since the Daily Echo's appeal to readers for help for the struggling sanctuary, more than £26,000 has been clocked up to keep it running.
The Midlington Road centre came under threat after 83-year-old Win, who is registered blind, forked out hundreds to save her beloved horse, Beauty, that once saved her own life.
But now things are back on track for the sanctuary and Win is delighted. She said: "It's absolutely fantastic. We have been able to pay all the bills and Beauty is much better. So it's a happy ending all round."
Councillor Dunsdon said: "My family and I are very concerned about animal welfare. We are delighted to be able to support such a worthy course."
