THE Eddie Harrison Christmas Charity match on Hordle Lakes saw bumper weights - and more than £175 raised for charity.

John Bass fished between the islands on Long Lake at 12 metres on the pole with sweetcorn on the hook to land a string of carp to 7lb to finish with a 96lb 13oz total to top £100 in prize money plus a Christmas hamper.

Terry Sargent, pegged at the top of tench lake, fished pole and corn to land carp to 8lb in his 70lb haul.

Salisbury's James Knight finished third from the monk peg on canal lake with 64lb 5oz.

Others: G Tappenden (Homestores Sensas) 55-3, Mark Illingworth (Homestore Select) 51-4, N Fox (Dorset Raiders) 50-9.

Saturday's open on Greenridge saw victory for Mark Brown who has had a good run on the venue this year. Brown took 44-15 of carp to 9lb from peg seven on canal one on the long pole and maggot, to shade Dave Parvin (43-12 of small carp to 3lb), fishing on pellet and corn from peg 17 on canal two from both the margins and far bank.

Mick Kenny finished third with 30-12 of carp to 6lb from peg five on canal one with Dave Beaumont fourth with 21-2 of carp from peg 15 on canal two.

The King's Toyota Christmas match on Witherington Farm was split into three sections on Barnmore, Sellwood and Cottage, the winner of each receiving a hamper.

Homestores Sensa's Graham Tappenden won Barnmore with 45-8 of carp to 8lb on pole and banded pellet from the margins on peg one. Barney's Blacks' Paul Barnard finished second with 39-4 of carp from peg 17, with Steve Nadin third on 26-4, including 17-4 of skimmers which won the silver fish pool on the day.

On Sellwoods Ray Hayward (Homestores Selects) fished long pole to the island with corn on the hook to tempt 44-8 of carp to 4lb.

Poingdestres' Steve Pomery finished second with 23-6 of carp on the waggler and pellet with Paul Sears (Homestores Sensas) third with 16-15 on cottage dynamite baits.

Dave Hambidge won the Cottage hamper with 27lb of pole and corn-caught carp on the floating pole from peg 11 fished to the island. Bob Drew (Eastleigh Mosella) finished second with 13-2, with Garry Naylor (Kings Toyota) third with 11-8 of carp and roach.

The Eastleigh Christmas match on Stoneham top lake saw reasonable weights of silver fish, Dean Rowden taking 7lb of large skimmers from peg 110 on the pole and red maggot to win comfortably. Eastleigh Mosella's Dave Self was second with an 8lb carp on the waggler plus skimmers on the pole for a total of 14-4 from peg 106. John Clark finished third with 11-12 of skimmers on the pole, with Kev Hatcher fourth with 11-11. Others: P Clift 8-8, R Self 7-0.

The Homestores-sponsored Christmas match for the juniors on Stoneham saw promising teenager Richie Self well clear of his field to win the juniors with 15-4 of skimmers and roach from the dam wall on the top lake. Juvenile victory went to Amber Martin, who took 1-9 of silver fish.

Cormorants' Christmas match on Longbridge saw Poingdestres' Steve Pomery take a mainly carp haul for 29-8 on the pole and corn to win.

Pete Newman (Poingdestres) finished second with four good carp from peg four on the pole and corn from the ditch with Dave Rickwood third with a carp bag of 25-4 from peg 42 on the canal.

Others: R Kajko 23-6, P Ashton 20-2 and C Egerton 14-2.
